OMNISCIENT – ULTIMA DESTRUCTO INFINITUS
This six piece from North Carolina fall into the symphonic black metal genre, with splashes of brutal death thrown in for good measure, and if there’s anything to be said about Omniscient it’s that they’re dedicated to bludgeoning you to death with class and refinement.
For better or worse, you can’t help but think of Dimmu Borgir when listening to this stylish CD; it really depends on the listener and whether they appreciate this orchestral form of metal or not. With songs such as the crushing opener ‘The Mastermind Helix’ or the memorable title track, there’s no denying that Omniscient mean business. They have captured a growing-in-popularity sound and beat and tortured it into submission before unleashing it onto the public (if you love something you let it go, right?) Not to mention excellent musicianship all round – these guys (and gal) are jaw-droppingly stunning.
This 4-track CD comes highly recommended to those dark souls who revel in Old Man’s Child, Emperor and Anorexia Nervosa. Expect big things from Omniscient.
