In this age of trendy corporate metal, where a lot of bands are mostly worried about being the next Greedtallica, very few musicians can be called true "artists."
A man dedicated to his craft, to pushing the boundaries, not worried about trends, Devin Townsend is one of those few.
The new SLY album, Alien, is the latest Devin Townsend creation, an album so extreme, that it would be comical had it been created by somebody else.
Devin takes his music seriously, and it shows on this album.. where else besides a Voivod album would you find the word "multiverse" in the lyrics?
Featuring the astounding double bass drum work of Gene Hoglan, layers of guitars and keyboards, and the truly insane singing of Devin, this album is so over the top, you would be laughing in amazement that anyone in this planet could conceive such music.
Devin Townsend is a creative genius with mental problems, and that makes him and his music different from everybody else's.
A must for any fan of extreme metal music. _________________ "I believe the common character of the universe is not harmony, but hostility, chaos and murder." -Werner Herzog |
