THE LURKING CORPSES – 23 TALES OF TERROR
With a name like that, what can you expect except Horror Punk in the vein of The Misfits at their most sinister? 23 songs of singalong terror-anthems that are more hardcore lyrically than anything the Misfits attempted – ‘Mummy’s Cum’, anyone – though ‘Ghoulita is out tonight’ has out-Misfitted the Misfits themselves. Brimming with horror B-movie samples (“Whatever it is, it’s not human!”), some death metal growls and gore-grind overtones make this CD highly enjoyable, in a perverse kinda way
This review is short, yes, for there’s not much else one can say about The Lurking Corpses without using up all the adjectives in my thesaurus for the word horror. Yet the fact remains; if you rattle your bones to The Misfits (and, to some extent, the more serious Necrophagia), then it goes without saying that The Lurking Corpses are for you. Sicko.
