QUEIRON – THE SHEPHERD OF TOPHET
(Butchered Records)
So Queiron is a name I’ve kicked around the ‘listening to …’ post a number of times. They’re from Brazil (which seems to be championing the more dedicated in underground metal these days) and they play primitive death metal by way of Kreator’s Endless Pain and Cannibal Corpse’s Butchered at Birth. It’s fast, nasty, brutal old school death, with heaps of plagiarized Slayer-esque squealing guitar solos. Yes, this is a good thing, as though Queiron are by no means original, are certainly not doing anything you haven’t heard a million times before in any South American thrash/death/black metal band they are so fucking into what they’re doing that you *have* to check ‘em out:
