Pleasing extreme music fans is a difficult task.
In the mid-nineties Napalm Death's former record company, Earache, signed a distribution deal with Columbia Records / Sony. This found the band being produced by master metal produder Colin Richardson who was able to coach a clean, but powerful sound out of the band. Like true artists, Napalm Death found themselves experimenting with slower tempos and song structures, concentrating on the power of their sound. Many fans used to the old faster-than-thou ND Grindcore sound were turned off and screamed "sell out" even though the albums were as heavy (or heavier) than anything released at the time.

A decade later Napalm Death find themselves signed to Century Media and without long time guitarrist Jesse Pintado.
After rediscovering their Grindcore roots with 2001's release Enemies of the Music Business the band are back with a CD that finds them encompassing all the different styles and sounds they've explored in the last 20 years.

From the punk-meets-Sabbath of "Silence is Deafening" to the extreme grind of the less-than-a-minute long "Right you are", through the midtempo of the title track and the pseudo-Cathedral doom of "Morale", this album offers a varied platter for all fans of extreme music.

The Gods of Grindcore are back with one of the best albums of their career!

Yuri, why is it that when an artist experiments with something new, do fans scream fake? I always found that when musicians break away from their established molds, that they have obtained a graduated level of intelligence. Thank you for the music review.........I had the honor of watching Napalm Death play at the Empire rock club in Philly. Great show! I miss those days Crying or Very sad
Luv,
M.
