If you have nothing good to say...
Sorry Ken...I really wanted to like this album but...
THE GOOD
-High Production and Killer Sound
-Awesome Drummer
-Virtuoso Guitar Player
-Tight Band Interplay
THE BAD
-Sophomoric, "socially conscious" what-a-horrible-world-we-live-in lyrics
-Unoriginal, derivative songwriting
-Monotonous, whiny minor key singing
-High Cheese content
THE UGLY
It seems Nevermore has made a career out of ripping off Savatage's musical approach and Dream Theater's higher aspirations and thrashy interludes. The only problem is:
1-They do not have Savatage's song writing skills
2-They do not have Dream Theater's musical chops
Savatage has been doing this type of thing for decades now, with much better songwriting.
Nevermore are a great band, with great sound and fine players, but if you are looking for something original with songs that will stay in your head, skip this one and pick up Savatage's Handful of Rain _________________ "I believe the common character of the universe is not harmony, but hostility, chaos and murder." -Werner Herzog |

When I eventually get round to reviewing a bunch of albums I'll also review Nevermore's new album.
And give a different opinion to this metal monster than our illustrious moderator ... |
