Voivod
I really want to thank the band & James McLean for inviting me to take pics of Voivod opening for Judas Priest at the Bell Center in Montreal, Canada.
My (first) trip to Canada was filled with all kinds of adventures, like the fact that the guards at the Canadia / USA border asked me if i was bringing any drugs into Canada and searched my entire car. I was kind of afraid they would hold me back, and i would miss the show so i told them i did Voivod’s website.. and one of the guards said.. oh yeah.. Voivod.., i used to listen to them years ago.

The funniest thing happened as soon as i arrived in Montreal, as I parked my car near my hotel, i was greeted by some young kids shooting heroin out in the open, at 1pm in the afternoon!!
Truthfully, i have never seen anyone shoot up heroin in real life, and much less in broad day light.
Little did i know about Montreal’s populous junkie citizens.. then the irony about the border guard’s comments dawned on me…
Dude, there is no need to bring drugs into Canada!! LOL

Anyway; after settling down in my hotel room, James was kind enough to invite me to hang out with the band backstage at the Bell Center before the show, and this is where i was able to take these great pics that you seldom see.. the band getting ready and doing work before the show, not as rockstars, but as humans.
All the band members, their girlfriends, James, G (the bands tour manager) and everyone else were very gracious and accomodating, despite the fact that it is very hard to understand Québécois, even if you understand Francais.
After the show, when i was going to get my car to drive back to my hotel, i was lucky to run into James & his english-speaking buddies as they were sitting outside in a pub, and we had some beers and James invited me to go meet Snake & Annie at the (in)famous Les Foufounes Électriques
Needless to say, we had a blast, and we stayed until closing.
The next day, i spent literally about 8 hours walking and taking pivd around the city..
i even went up the big hill that is in the middle of Montreal, and i almost got lost, LOL.
Montreal is an awesome city.

Setlist: Voivod, The Prow, Tornado, Ravenous Medicine, The Unknown Knows, Tribal Convictions, Brainscan, Astronomy Domine
